About the Congress for
Democracy
The Congress for Democracy was set up to provide a forum for discussion and co-operation between
individuals and groups from across the political spectrum who want to retain an
independent pound. More recently it has focused on the need for a
British referendum on the proposed EU Constitution.
Its conferences are held at Church House, Westminster. Those attending
include MPs from all the main political parties, company chairmen, trade unionists, small business
groups, representatives of farming and fishing, students, pensioners and private citizens.
Co-Chairmen of the conferences are Sir Michael Spicer
MP and Austin Mitchell
MP.
